Dr. Barbara Plucknett

I am here to partner with women, to teach them how their bodies work and explore ways they might improve their health. It is an exciting time for women with so many choices and options in life and in health. I am blessed to be sharing in that journey.

Hello!

I’m Dr. Plucknett –  a physician who has worked in the field of Gynecology and Urogynecology for almost twenty fives years.  I enjoy supporting women in their health journey – addressing their needs one step at a time. I am focused on helping my patients find their center. The place where they feel really good about themselves. The place where they’re motivated to keep moving forward and confident that they can reach their health goals.

Precisely because I have been practicing medicine as an MD trained Gynecologist and Urogynecologist I am intimately familiar with the female anatomy.  I have had thousands of conversations with women about their health. And of course as a woman and mother I have had my own experiences and challenges with my own body. These personal challenges have led me to explore many types of healing.  About a decade ago I began to educate myself about alternative health medicine and have been thrilled to integrate what I have learned into my traditional training.

I believe in the value of combining the best of conventional science in traditional medicine with the holistic view that encompasses a whole body approach to staying well; The basis of a more integrated approach.

What I have really enjoyed in this journey is finding ways to incorporate the use of supplementation, food and movement into the discussions I have with patients.

Specialties

In my practice, I specialize in Urogynecology, which is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology. Urogynecology deals with the diagnosis and management of disorders of the muscular pelvic floor in women. To specialize in this area requires a considerable amount of training beyond medical school and a 4 year residency. I am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist and an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder and prolapse related symptoms. I do have extensive training in surgical and nonsurgical management of these types of conditions and am confident that I can help you.
